Mexico City Now and Then

Mexico City is a treasure trove for anyone passionate about modern art, architecture, and graphic design. Its streets are a vibrant canvas where culture, creativity, and history collide. Mexico City’s streets are like an open-air museum.

In just one week, we journeyed through centuries of history, art, and culture in Mexico City, a city where the past and present coexist in remarkable harmony. Among its 150 outstanding museums, two stand out as exceptional destinations: Museo Nacional de Antropología and the Museo Soumaya. Together, these two museums exemplify the incredible range of Mexico City’s cultural offerings. They’re not just places to visit—they’re immersive experiences that connect us with the city’s soul and its journey through time.

Mexico City is also a treasure trove for anyone passionate about modern art, architecture, and graphic design. Its streets are a vibrant canvas where culture, creativity, and history collide. The statue “Cabeza de Caballo,” meaning “Head of a Horse”, was created in 1979 by the artist Sebastián and looks down on Paseo de la Reforma—unmissable. Mexico City pays homage to the artist Piet Mondrian in edifices around the city. The Ukrainian artist Tosia Malamud’s intriguing urban sculpture fronts the entrance of a 25-story building in Mexico City. Even a simple stroll introduces us to a visual feast of typography on storefronts.

The vibrant art and cultural traditions of Mexico have infused energy into Courage Drifter’s creations. Frida Kahlo’s iconic image decorates her tshirt in the Exceptional Women collection. And the whimsical and intricate picado papel designs, often seen fluttering in Mexico’s markets, have been re-imagined in the Papel Picado shoe collection.

Mexico City. We’ll be back!

Hasta luego amigos
